Storm and fire claims in Houston
Houston property owners deal with more than one kind of storm. Hurricanes and tropical storms bring roof and wall damage from wind, and the line between wind damage and flood water is one of the most common fights on a Gulf Coast claim. Hurricane Harvey in 2017 and Hurricane Beryl in 2024 both left thousands of owners sorting out what their policy covered.
Severe thunderstorms matter too. The May 2024 derecho blew out windows in downtown Houston towers, and spring hail hits roofs and rooftop units across the metro. Whether your loss is a single home or a portfolio of buildings, Art documents it line by line so the number reflects the real cost to repair.

What Art sees most in Houston
Roofs, siding, windows, and the water that gets in after the building envelope is opened.
Wind damage is usually covered by your property policy; rising water usually needs a separate flood policy. Insurers often blame the water.
Glass, roof systems, signage, and rooftop equipment on commercial buildings.
Shingles, metal and TPO roofs, skylights, and HVAC units.
Structure, contents, and business income while the building is down.
Coastal properties may have wind coverage through TWIA, which has its own claim deadlines and dispute rules.
Two ways Art can help
Public adjuster or appraiser
Art handles the whole claim: policy review, documentation, estimate, and negotiation. Paid a percentage of the settlement, capped at 10% by Texas law. How public adjusting works
When the insurer agrees the loss is covered but disagrees on the amount, Art values it as your appraiser. Fee quoted in writing. How appraisal works
One role per claim, never both. A free review tells you which one fits.

Questions
Houston claim FAQ
Is hurricane damage covered by my property policy?
Wind damage from a hurricane is usually covered, subject to your deductible, which for named storms is often a percentage of the insured value. Damage from rising water is usually excluded and needs a separate flood policy. When both happen, the insurer has to separate them, and that split is where many Houston claims come up short.
Do I need a public adjuster or an appraiser for my Houston claim?
If the claim is new, stalled, or partly denied, a public adjuster can handle the whole claim. If the insurer agrees the damage is covered but its number is too low, the appraisal clause may settle the amount faster. Art takes one role per claim and will tell you which one fits after a free review.
Does Art work claims outside the city of Houston?
Yes. Art works claims across Greater Houston and the Gulf Coast, including Katy, Sugar Land, The Woodlands, Pearland, Pasadena, Baytown, League City, Conroe, and Galveston.
